First Financial to Open Time Capsule on May 3

April 25, 2013

Celina, OH – On Friday, May 3 at 11:30 a.m., First Financial Bank will open the time capsule that has been a part of their downtown lobby for more than 21 years. The public and community are invited to be a part of the time capsule opening ceremony to celebrate the bank’s long-time history in Celina.

When their office at 225 North Main Street in Celina was constructed, a small vault was installed in the lobby wall. At the time, the capsule was covered with a brass plaque commemorating the construction date, as well as the year 2016 when the time capsule would be opened. Because the City of Celina is purchasing this building from First Financial, the bank decided to open the time capsule a few years early and reveal the history and happenings sealed in the capsule for the past 21 years.

“We’re looking forward to this special event as a way to thank our clients and the community for their support. It will be interesting to see the items in the time capsule and take a look back at what was important in the Celina community back in 1992 when the building was new,” said Barb Hamilton, Assistant Vice President, Sales Center Manager.

Opening the capsule will be part of festivities that are being held on May 3 in the bank’s downtown Celina office. Refreshments will be served all day and visitors may register to win special prizes. All members of the community are welcome.
